\ud83c\udfc6\ud83d\udcfb\ud83c\udfaf Contests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contests<\/strong> are a special operating mode of the program, as the name suggests \u2014 designed specifically for contest operation \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program supports multiple Logbooks, but there is an additional top-level distinction between regular Logbooks<\/strong> and contest Logbooks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you enable contest mode, a new Logbook<\/strong> is created specifically for that contest.
After the contest ends, you can decide whether to return to the previous regular Logbook<\/strong> and whether to merge the contest logs<\/strong> into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to start the contest.
Open the configuration window and, in the Logbook<\/strong> tab, select the Logbook type: Contest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can select an existing contest<\/strong> from the Logbook Name<\/strong> list, or create a New contest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are provided with a list of contests<\/strong> that can be edited, and you can also create your own new contests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logbook name<\/strong> \u2013 here you can use the helper by clicking Generate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During contests, operators exchange specific contest information<\/strong>.
This can be a sequential QSO number<\/strong> or a fixed value<\/strong>, such as a zone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Received data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If the received data is a number<\/strong> and an ordered format is required \u2014 for example, the number must be four digits long<\/strong> \u2014 enabling Pad digits to:<\/strong> will cause a value such as 12<\/code> to be automatically padded with leading zeros to the required length, e.g. 0012<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data to be sent<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This can be a fixed string<\/strong> that never changes, for example a single digit, letter, or text \u2014 in this case the same value will be logged for every QSO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also possible to generate a number automatically<\/strong>, which is a slightly more advanced option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Prefix<\/strong> \u2013 a fixed string at the beginning, e.g. AA<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Then a number<\/strong>, optionally padded to a fixed length, e.g. 001<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Suffix<\/strong> \u2013 a fixed string at the end, e.g. XX<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    This results in automatically generated exchanges for consecutive QSOs, such as:
    AA001XX<\/code>, AA002XX<\/code>, AA003XX<\/code>, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Using this mechanism, it is possible to meet the requirements of all contest programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once the contest configuration is confirmed, the main Logbook window<\/strong> will look slightly different:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Here you can view statistics in separate windows<\/strong>.
    Statistics are also available in the normal operating mode, but during contests<\/strong> they are often more important and useful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From the menu<\/strong>, you can modify contest data<\/strong> as well as end the contest<\/strong>.
    The same actions can also be performed in the main configuration window<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After many successful QSOs, it\u2019s time to finish the contest<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At the end of the contest, the logged QSOs must be exported and sent to the contest organizer<\/strong>.
    The export can be performed in two formats<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • ADIF log<\/strong> \u2013 using the standard export window already described earlier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Cabrillo log<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      In the Cabrillo format, there are many fields<\/strong>, most of which do not need to be filled in<\/strong>, but the option is available for more demanding contests<\/strong> that require additional information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      After completing the logs, you can return to the regular Logbook<\/strong>.
      You can choose which Logbook to return to<\/strong> and decide whether to add the QSOs made during the contest<\/strong> to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
